Welcome. This is the professional website of adult education ESL teacher Dan Spalding. I have taught non-academic, academic, and vocational ESL classes since 2002. Here you can find information about my three areas of expertise outside the classroom:
Curriculum Development
I am available to develop curriculum on almost any topic. I have developed hundreds of pages of ESL curriculum, on topics ranging from crime in the community to learning academic vocabulary to avoiding chronic injuries at work. This includes digital photo, audio and video editing.
Professional Development
As an activist, I have facilitated workshops and meetings for over 10 years, for as many as 500 people at a time. More recently, I have facilitated standing room-only workshops at CATESOL conferences, all of which are appropriate for professional development.
ESL Stories
As an adult education ESL teacher, I have written over 100 stories for my students. You can find all of them here, complete with content and critical-thinking questions. The stories include American history, world history, and folk tales.
I am committed to becoming one of the best ESL teachers in the world. Please feel free to borrow anything on this site that is of use to you. And please contact me regarding any curriculum development, professional development, or teaching work.
